At the Chandigarh Art College (Punjab) I was a misfit. Even the social atmosphere of the city was alien to me as thus far I had either lived in a village or in a monastery. As for my Swedish experience it was not relevant to Chandigarh.

My own aloneness and depression found a resonance in these real images of buss stop. Out of this state came sketches, etchings, lithographs and paintings that later came to be known as the Bus Stop series.

All the sketches and the paintings were done in the mediums to which I was introduced in the art college such as pencil and paper, crayon, conte, pen and link, and oil on canvas.
